I feel like I’ve been holding out on you with this tidbit of knowledge. And yes, as you can see the pictures below, I’m talking about something as simple as a tank top :o)
I typically like to show fun pieces, tips on how trends should fit, or where to find a certain piece but have failed to share with you something so basic.
The MASSIVE benefits of this small item are this:
*If you wear your shirts and holes are getting created right where your pant button rubs it. This will prevent that from happening.
*Try wearing a tank to elongate a top. You may not be into the crop tops or even ones that skim your pants. Add a tank underneath to change the look & feel more comfortable
*A tank (especially the lycra ones!!!!) seem to really hold us in. Whether or not you have anything to “hold in,” wearing something underneath (if your clothing allows) gives your top half a very smooth, beautiful look.
You may already have in your drawers and wear them, but just last night I had a client that didn’t realize all the tops she could wear when putting a tank underneath (which is what stemmed this email!).
You know I love to shop local, so in addition to the tanks you can order, I have also included a link to a store here in Chicago that carries one of my favorites…..Handle With Care

I hope you are able to spend some time shopping in local shops and boutiques this Holiday Season. Shopping local keeps the money flowing through our communities, helps build the local economy and helps the community grow. Usually, you will find that the shopping experience within a local shop is a more distinctive and personal. There are such incredible boutiques with some of the nicest people running them!! You never know what hidden gems you may find. Take this blouse, for example, it was a “shop local ” find from North Shore Exchange.
Clients often ask “how do you tie your scarves?” So I thought I should share with you all the best ways I like to tie mine. A scarf can add quite a bit of flavor to an outfit without much effort! Go floral, bright, neutral, striped, textured…whichever feels best with your look. I hope this helps:
Capes……such an easy “throw on and go” piece. It’s cozy with such ease that it works over jeans, skirts, and even workout pants! This is just one of those pieces that gives you a put-together look without much effort.
You can go with color or a more subdued sort of Ralph Lauren-esque look. Below are some of my favorites. Enjoy!!

Mixing giving back to feed those in need with a great brand (with the BEST jeans) is a match made in styling heaven!
Part of my mission in doing what I do as a stylist is to give back to our community. I love shopping at the local boutiques, volunteering at the soup kitchen with my husband, and helping out when I can. So when the opportunity arises that I am able to style people while the money goes to a cause, I’m ALL in!
Join me at Madewell downtown, Tuesday the 21st, with my styling team! Jenna, Lindsay, & I will be putting looks together, finding the best accessories for your outfits, and talking about what best fits your body. A portion of the proceeds will go to Common Pantry, to help with providing on Thanksgiving.
No pressure to shop, but feel free to come on in and check out the store! I would love, love to see you!!
