Spring is Getting Closer – Here are the Trends!

Spring is getting a bit closer (well, spring may be here, but the warmer weather hasn’t followed yet)!  Included are some of the exciting trends for this spring/summer.
I try to make everything as “everyday person” as I can, so below are some tips and tricks on these trends that you will see in stores.
As always…look in your closet to see what you have possibly hidden in the back that you can wear without having to make a purchase.  If not, enjoy these looks and happy shopping!Pale Pink Lip Color – I always go for bright, but have already tried this color and love it! It will look great with any skin tone too!

Belt Purse – No it can’t hold a lot, but what all do you REALLY need on the move?! :o)  Not to mention you get to be totally hands-free.

Track Pants – LOVE and are comfortable! They can be daytime with sneakers or I’ve worn mine out for date night with a silk blouse and heels.

Pastels – Bring on those beautiful spring colors! So soft and beautiful, but can be “edged up” with a bomber jacket and booties.

Pencil Skirts – Not sure if they ever go away, but they are back “on” for this season.

Polka Dots – It doesn’t get much more playful than these!

Vintage Floral – Call me an old lady, but I adore big floral prints all the time.

Belts OVER Jackets and Coats – Go for a stretchy one or a long scarf! (Lose the belt that is attached, especially for trench coats!)

Plaid Blazers – Dress down with white jeans or up with a great dress pant.

BRIGHTS – Just think 80’s… and anything goes with mixing or wearing by it’s lonesome.  Total fun here! If it’s not your thing, NO worries :o)

I have been keeping something from you…..

I feel like I’ve been holding out on you with this tidbit of knowledge. And yes, as you can see the pictures below, I’m talking about something as simple as a tank top :o)

I typically like to show fun pieces,  tips on how trends should fit, or where to find a certain piece but have failed to share with you something so basic.

The MASSIVE benefits of this small item are this:

*If you wear your shirts and  holes are getting created right where your pant button rubs it. This will prevent that from happening.

*Try wearing a tank to elongate a top.  You may not be into the crop tops or even ones that skim your pants.  Add a tank underneath to change the look & feel more comfortable

*A tank (especially the lycra ones!!!!) seem to really hold us in. Whether or not you have anything to “hold in,” wearing something underneath (if your clothing allows) gives your top half a very smooth, beautiful look.

You may already have in your drawers and wear them, but just last night I had a client that didn’t realize all the tops she could wear when putting a tank underneath (which is what stemmed this email!).

You know I love to shop local, so in addition to the tanks you can order,  I have also included a link to a store here in Chicago that carries one of my favorites…..Handle With Care

Sending much love today!!!

Annie

Key Ingredients to “Put-Together” Looks.

Key Ingredients to “Put-Together” Looks…With Links to My Faves!

Some of the “pain points” my clients tell me they are struggling with:

-“I just want to look put-together”
– “I need clothing that allows me to be comfortable and cute”
-“A lot of bloggers are in heels and it’s just not me or doable”
-“I love how “so and so” always has a complete look”
-The list goes on…

My hope is to give you a tidbit of information to help you pick out your outfits confidently!
Like I always say, fit is everything and simply having pieces you love in your wardrobe.  (Toss what isn’t working, but a newsletter coming soon on that).

Here are my key pieces for easy day-to-day or weekend looks:
1. A striped tee or a tee with graphics or detail.
2. A jean that allows you to move and groove. Try a dark grey or color.
3. An outer layer that could be a sweater, jacket, or vest.
4. A scarf to bring color/depth to your look.  Or a long necklace.
5. A sneaker or bootie that is comfy
Bonus: a nice lip balm/gloss/lipstick  (bring a little color without needing makeup)

The pieces I’ve picked are to show you my fave items that I think makes a quick, easy, versatile look.  Mix and match is the name of the game!

Have a great rest of the day.

With Joy,
Annie

Support Local Businesses This Holiday Season

Chicago Personal Stylist

I hope you are able to spend some time shopping in local shops and boutiques this Holiday Season.  Shopping local keeps the money flowing through our communities, helps build the local economy and helps the community grow.   Usually, you will find that the shopping experience within a local shop is a more distinctive and personal.  There are such incredible boutiques with some of the nicest people running them!!   You never know what hidden gems you may find.  Take this blouse, for example,  it was a “shop local ” find from North Shore Exchange.

How Do You Tie Your Scarves?

Clients often ask “how do you tie your scarves?” So I thought I should share with you all the best ways I like to tie mine.  A scarf can add quite a bit of flavor to an outfit without much effort!  Go floral, bright, neutral, striped, textured…whichever feels best with your look.  I hope this helps:

Mixing Giving Back With A Great Jeans Brand

Chicago Personal Stylist

Mixing giving back to feed those in need with a great brand (with the BEST jeans) is a match made in styling heaven!

Part of my mission in doing what I do as a stylist is to give back to our community. I love shopping at the local boutiques, volunteering at the soup kitchen with my husband, and helping out when I can.  So when the opportunity arises that I am able to style people while the money goes to a cause, I’m ALL in!
